manroland has pitched a further e:line newspaper press into its range, delivering a standard double-width pressline at what is claimed to be 20 per cent less cost.
The Geoman e:line launched at DRUPA this week is designed to print up to 90,000 cph - instead of the 110,000 cph more expensive stablemates achieve - but can still be equipped with a full range of automation options. Media representatives were told at last Monday's press conference that the "cost to customer" would be 20 per cent lower than normal models.
manroland web systems says the same principles of the Colorman e:line have been used for the more compact Geoman e:line, adapting the press to individual requirements and economic situations. Its modular design means it can be upgraded "step by step" later.
Maximum web width is typically 1640 mm and elements include an infeed unit integrated with the printing unit, and a cylinder arrangement enabling parallel make ready. Automation options include control systems and the company's PPL, APL and plate lift for automatic changeovers, plus integrated inline ink density - manroland has a new IDCµ system - colour and cut-off register.
Heatset inking units and dryers are available for "close to commercial" quality.
