New cloud-based versions of Agfa's Arkitex newspaper workflow include 'on-the-fly' positioning options and the ability to keep running when the connection is down.
Shown at DRUPA this month, version 2 of Arkitex Production includes a single, integrated interface, a web-based planning tool and intuitive plate layout manager, as well as integrated ink key presetting.
Based on HTML5, it can be accessed with full control from any computer platform and a browser.
At the show, Agfa preview newest features including the ability to adjust image position in a plate template on-the-fly, and a new 'press knowledge' feature which gives an operator a press-oriented view of the production run. The company says the new cloud capability offers a secure connection to local resources, and also a pre-staging feature that buffers images so that production can continue if the cloud connection is temporarily interrupted.
Add-on products provide better cost control, improved print production efficiency, and optimised print quality. The stand-alone OptiColor server provides intelligent and fully automated colour transformations, with new features including resolution-independent sharpening, enhanced skin tone handling and the addition of simplified Mac-capable web-based monitoring clients.
