DRUPA previews: Digital and VDP finishing at MM

Digital print finishing and variable data production are two areas of interest for news publishers on the Müller Martini stand at DRUPA.

Key to their 'Finishing 4.0' presentation is touchless production, with a fully-connected, machine line-up handling products including web-offset and digital printing elements.

Among complex hybrid products on the stand will be a bilingual 'in-flight' magazine to be produced sequentially in sets of four copies, with varying page counts. A digitally-printed book block will also be produced using the SigmaLine and fed using the book block feeder to a new version of the Alegro perfect binder.

Elsewhere, Canon Océ and Xerox will both have Müller Martini Presto digital saddle stitchers (pictured) - with Hunkeler unwind and cross cutting units and Heidelberg pocket fold - live on their stands.

The Presto stitcher is capable of handling fully variable products - including customised and personalised print - touchlessly under barcode control. This can control the sequence of individual products to form individual bundles optimised by mailing route, and also trigger selective feeding of signatures and covers.
