Danish media tech company Stibo DX has committed to investing an extra more than ten million Euros (A$17.56 million) on its CUE media enterprise platform

The “significant extraordinary strategic investment of a double-digit million Euros amount” will go into Cue and related services “over the next two years”.

Cue has its roots in CCI – which foundation-owned Stibo bought when it was the Atlanta-based developer of NewsDesk and NewsGate – and Escenic, which it bought from Vizrt in 2008. Which is a measure of how long Stibo has been accumulating advanced technology.

Stibo says the ‘Summerbird’ initiative aims to accelerate the platform’s evolution, enhancing its capabilities, accelerating development and strengthening Cue platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings.

Chief executive Lars Bjørn Falkenberg describes it marks a “pivotal step forward” in Stibo’s commitment to empowering media organisations worldwide.

“As the industry faces unprecedented transformation and disruption, we recognise the urgent need for scalable, intelligent and integrated solutions that support digital-first strategies, streamline operations and fuel innovation.”

He points to “significant pressures” for media including declining print and broadcast revenues, rising costs, fragmented workflows and changing audience behaviours.”

The Cue platform is being built to address challenges and to support core strategies including consolidation, convergence and innovation, from leveraging technologies including AI to automate processes and deliver superior audience engagement.

Falkenberg says Stibo is already investing 23 per cent of its revenues back into the platform annually. The investment will fund a range of enhancements and extensions over the next 24 months – with “significant advancements” in the first six months – an expanded global workforce already, and the use of external advisers.

Stibo DX says it has achieved a 16 per cent increase in annual recurring revenue since 2023 and a 33 per cent growth in PaaS and SaaS revenue. Latest offerings including an AI-powered automation platform and an automated print solution, are already being adopted globally, and have attracted a new contract in Japan.
