Course programme addresses need for AI knowledge

Teaming with former BBC broadcast trainer Dean Arnett, WAN-Ifra has launched a new programme of on-demand training courses tailored to newsroom skill demands.

Topics are set to include AI in news production and AI tools for journalists, meeting growing demand for skill development driven by technological advancements.

The personalised courses are designed to help journalists and publishers learn on the go, and quickly transform their operations, and have been launched in association with UK-based Arnett.

Available courses include AI tools for media and news production; AI and elections; AI for image generation; and editing with Final Cut Pro, with more courses – on diverse topics and by various trainers – to be added every month.

An exclusive portal provides access to the course programme, see https://wan-ifra.forento.site/

WAN-Ifra says it recognises the need for continuous learning and skill development in media organisations, and the newly launched portal provides access to learning on diverse topics needed to operate in the changing media landscape.

“We are excited to launch these on-demand training courses, and it goes with our mission to help our members and publishers to innovate and prosper in a digital world. With these courses, we aim to support the growth of quality journalism and modern newsroom practices”, said chief executive Vincent Peyrègne.

The on-demand courses will provide self-paced and platform-agnostic learning. Participants will have questions answered directly by the trainer, with regular ‘meet the trainer’ sessions available for additional clarification. Certificates will be provided upon completion of the courses, for which discounts are available during September.

Although tailored specifically for users in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and South Asia, courses are accessible to participants worldwide. More information from Magdoom Mohamed, magdoom.mohamed@wan-ifra.org, Jen Teo jen.teo@wan-ifra.org or Thai Anban thai.anban@wan-ifra.org.
