After spruiking the benefits of branded content at an event last week, News Corp has gone further into the business with a controlling stake in full service video production company Visual Domain.

Acquiring a majority of the business – founded by Renece Brewster and Daniel Goldstein (pictured) in 2008 – would help deliver “great offerings”, News’ Australasia executive chairman Michael Miller said.

“Video production is a significant and growing component of the content we create.”

Visual Domain comes with an experienced in-house team and full-service offering – from livestream events to high-end TV commercials and social media – giving News “immediate scale” in video production. The company has produced more than 60,500 videos in its 13 years, and has creative teams located across Australia.

Managing director Mike Connaghan said News had already been working with Visual Domain and was “impressed by their creativity, efficiency and ability to match the pace of the news cycle while also dealing with bigger, longer form creative projects”.

With the demand for video escalating, bringing the businesses together allowed News to better meet clients’ growing digital, content and integrated marketing needs.
