Twipe has announced its first customer in the US, with Advance Local using the platform to deliver a new premium edition for readers of its 24 newspaper titles.

The publisher - which has Condé Nast as a stablemate - plans to bring a premium digital reading experience to subscribers already paying for their newspaper.

The digital editions will bridge the journey from print-first to digital-first for readers they want to attract with new innovative digital products.

Vice president of consumer revenue Kevin Denny says Advance will also use Twipe's digital-first NextGen edition technology and EngageReaders analytics tool.

The developer says first data shows that Advance Local readers spend on average 22 minutes reading their daily edition, with 15-20 per cent long readers spending up to 48 minutes with the brand. They also report a "promising" 10-15 per cent organic adoption of the edition formats among readers.
