Former Time technology and product engineering vice president Scott Smith has joined WoodWing in the US.

Smith's role as senior vice president, North America, will be to drive content creation and digital asset management solutions business in the US and Canada. He has worked for Time Inc for more than 12 years.

WoodWing says it envisions "tremendous growth opportunities" in North America in the booming field of content marketing, as well as a new era of digital publishing driven by Adobe's Digital Publishing Solution.

One of Smith's key ambitions will be to liaise with software vendors to create best-of-breed integrations with leading applications, especially in WCM, CRM and PIM. "As part of my work for Time, I came to know WoodWing in depth," says Smith, who says he is thrilled to be contributing to its further expansion.

In coming months, the company plans new content solutions and technologies, plus continuing evolution into a provider of cloud-based applications. Says chief executive Roel-Jan Mouw, "We are very pleased that Scott will contribute his extensive field experience in content technologies to support us on our way to establish the new offerings and to further strengthen our position in the North American market."
