Programme for INMA’s Media Tech & AI Week in San Francisco is coming together, with OpenAI, Cloudflare and Microsoft among planned study-tour visits.

And yes, the San Francisco Chronicle.

The event takes place from October 19-23, with a focus on what INMA’s Jodie Hopperton calls, “the hyper-speed intersection of AI, tech, journalism and product”.

The agenda includes a focus on prioritising LLM relationships, how products will improve, the “new personalisation” and emerging multimodal norms… and moving from an “extinction-level event” to real systems, revenue and strategy.

Hopperton, who is INMA’s product and tech initiative lead, says generative and agentic AI have shifted from “abstract disruption to hands-on transformation”, with newsrooms, product teams and technology leaders “re-architecting the entire content supply chain”.

Back in San Francisco and Silicon Valley for the second year of INMA’s Media Tech & AI Week, the programme sets out to help delegates master systems, partnerships and strategies that will define the next decade.

“News organisations urgently need strategy, governance, architecture and partnerships that match the speed of AI,” she says, and the week is designed to equip delegates with the frameworks, and the network to do that.

“If you want to understand AI’s impact on news, you can read about it; if you want to shape the future of your news media organisation, you come to San Francisco,” she says.
