A new ‘digital daily’ for London will have a staff of 30 and a print edition every month.

UK industry pub Press Gazette has reported plans for the new edition – of which a dummy version (pictured, complete with lit on ‘coulmns’) is already online – set to appear in February.

The launch of London Daily Digital follows the end of daily editions of commuter paper the London Evening Standard.

Behind the newcomer is executive editor Azeez Anasudhin, who heads LDD News as managing director.

Press Gazette’s Dominic Ponsford says Anasudhin – who launched Asian Lite in 2007, and has worked for Gulf Today and Indian Express – already has a 17-strong team in place. London Digital Daily will appear as a website and page-turning daily digital edition, with 100,000 of the monthly print edition to be printed and sol at GBP£5 ($A9.82) a copy.

Anasudhin aims to fill a perceived gap “covering local news, especially from borough councils”.

London Daily Digital is on a mission to revive Fleet Street’s legacy and uphold the principles of the media giants who once walked this storied path,” he told Ponsford.
