US newspaper press engineering specialist ImPressions Worldwide is to acquire Illinois-based Central Graphics, giving proprietor Jim Crivellone the opportunity to retire.

Included in the sale are the parts inventory and other business assets.

The two companies have worked together on projects for more than 25 years. ImPressions president Tom Loesch says they will retain a footprint in Chicago, with Ed Sellers and Gilberto Jolomna joining to provide continuity for customers.

Crivellone – who is ending a 37-year career with the company – says “there is no other company in the industry that I would feel comfortable entrusting my customer base to”, while Loesch says he was honoured by his choice of purchaser.

Book printer Worzalla Publishing has bought an eight-unit Sunday 2000 press to be installed in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. It will have Contiweb SC splicers and Ecocool gas dryers with chills, both PCF1.1 and PFF2 folders, QTI auto-registration and Omnicon press controls.

ImPressions will replace press drives, plate and blanket cylinder bearings and many other mechanical parts, while Contiweb will also perform maintenance and repairs.
