WPP agencies including Mirum and Wunderman Bienalto are part of a global partnership with digital technology platform provider Acquia to offer clients a full-service marketing and technology solution.

The new WPP-Acquia Alliance brings together WPP's existing Acquia partners to deliver software, training and certification, collaborate on new business pitches and share project resources.

Under the agreement, WPP agencies will provide creative, UX and development resources to Acquia clients, while Acquia will provide its open cloud platform to deliver projects. The initiative is part of WPP's technology partnership programme, led by chief digital officer and chief strategy officer Scott Spirit to coordinate and promote relationships with key providers.

Acquia provides an open cloud platform for building, delivering and optimizing digital experiences, and this week announced a new cloud-based Content Hub distribution and discovery service.

Acquia - whose enterprise clients in Australia include CUB SABMiller, Freehills, NSW Department of Planning and Environment and the Australian Government agencies via govCMS - harnesses the open source Drupal content management system which was created by founder and chief technology officer Dries Buytaert.

Chief executive Tom Erickson says after five years of working with WPP agencies, combined teams are working on five continents: "The combined WPP-Acquia team, and the disruptive business they're building, will deliver transformative outcomes to those organisations that are thinking ahead to a mobile-first, browserless world."

The company says Content Hub will make it easier for media companies to share syndicated content across sites regardless of technology platforms. "They need to be able to share, discover and collaborate unimpeded by disconnected legacy systems," says Buytaert.

The announcements round out a US$55 million investment ploughed into Acquia last month.
