Rising stars discuss media’s challenges

Young media hopefuls from India, China, Singapore and Australia linked up to express what they see as the industry’s biggest challenges, ahead of the Festival of Media Asia Pacific.

They are contestants in the event’s Rising Star Award, sponsored by Starcom MediaVest Group and open to under 30s working at media agencies, media owners or client-side. Participants must tackle a client brief and present the work to the Festival of Media jury.

Taking part in a Google ‘hangout’ were Tejas Apte (Hindustan Unilever, India), John Dawson (Mindshare, Australia), Aditya Madhavan (MediaCom, Singapore), Donna Sharp (Starcom MediaVest Group, China) and Apeksha Wallia (MediaCom, India).

The five shortlisted young media executives were joined online by southeast Asia chief executive of Starcom MediaVest Group, Jeffrey Seah.

In the discussion, the discuss what they feel are their biggest challenges, their perspectives on how the media landscape is changing, and how media professionals should adapt to this change.

Now in its third year, the Festival of Media Asia Pacific will bring together over 700 delegates from more than 25 countries worldwide for three days of networking, trading, inspiring speaker sessions and an awards celebration of the best creative work from across the region.
