South India newspaper publisher Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing is upgrading its ten print sites with an order for Ferag inserting and mailroom equipment.

The second largest Malayalam newspaper in the State of Kerala with a daily edition of 1.4 Million printed copies, Mathrubhumi is installing 12 inserting lines and other equipment. The MSD2-C lines, rated at up to 75,000 copies per hour will be fed by UTR Universal Conveyors from the japanese press equipment.

Chairman and managing director M.P. Veerendrakumar  says the decision followed intensive evaluation: “Ferag’s innovative added value products such as trimming, folding, stitching and Memostick offer us great opportunities for enhancing our market share in the future.”

Another important factor was the local subsidiary’s ability to provide sophisticated 24/7 service support.

Founded in 1923, the newspapers are based in Kozhikode, and printed at ten sites from the north of Kerala down to the south of the state.
