New AMA categories reflect media’s dynamic shifts

Award categories for WAN-Ifra’s Asian Media Awards have been revised to “better reflect the dynamic shifts in today’s media landscape”.

A total of 12 new categories span leadership & business, reporting, infographics, and photojournalism, while categories in front page and magazine cover design have been merged.

The new categories are:

–Leadership and business – This year’s competition sees brand-new categories alongside some retained from last year. New are Young Media Leader of the Year (Under 35); Best Young Audience Initiative; and Best Advertising Initiative; while Best Revenue Diversification Project, and Best Community Service Project have been retained.

–Reporting – Celebrating editorial excellence and impactful journalism. New categories: Best Business & Financial News Story; Best Technology News Story; and Best Climate Impact Story; while Best Health News Story has been retained.

–Infographics – Recognising creative and effective visual journalism: new categories are Best General News Infographics; and Best Health Infographics; while Best Climate Infographics has been retained.

–Photojournalism – Showcasing powerful photo stories that resonate emotionally and inform deeply: All four categories are new: Best News Photography; Best Lifestyle Photography; Best Human Interest Photography; and Best in Climate Photography.

–Cover design – The Newspaper Front Page and Magazine Cover categories from previous editions have now been merged into a single category: Best Cover Design.
