Plate manufacturer ECO3 expects to reduce CO₂ emissions by about a quarter following the commissioning of new gas purification equipment at its Wiesbaden, Germany, factory.

A ceremony this month celebrated “important milestones” in the construction of the regenerative thermal oxidiser plant for thermal exhaust gas purification.

ECO3’s workforce and some of its business partners, including industrial park operator ISW, which is a strategic partner.

ECO3 chief executive Christian Tebroke said the 3 million Euros (A$5.38 million) investment was a “clear signal for the strengthening of ECO3 production in Wiesbaden, which is an essential part of the global production network of ECO3 and thus of our medium-term strategy”.

Managing director of the Wiesbaden site Marcus Kraus said the new RTO plant would make a contribution to ECO3’s sustainability thanks to state-of-the-art technologies.

Construction work is in full swing, with commissioning planned for the end of 2025. The new RTO plant, with a 26 metre high air stack, will replace an outdated thermal afterburning system and “marks a vital step in reducing the environmental impact of the print industry”.
