A project to future-proof the large Goss at the Las Vegas Review-Journal is well underway, according to latest reports.

Contractor ImPressions Worldwide is working with Scandinavian specialist DCOS on the project, which includes a drive upgrade which has so far covered four of the 16 Global Newsliner towers.

The project will enhance operational efficiency of the press. The double-width towers were originally couple shaftless with Rexroth Indramat drives, which are being replaced with more advanced and efficient Control Techniques drives.

The update not only boosts performance but also ensures greater reliability and ease of maintenance going forward. Additionally, the project includes replacing the obsolete DKR components and upgrading the SERCOS network, which is integral to the improved communication and functionality of the system.

Remaining towers are scheduled for similar upgrades over the next few months, and the Review-Journal is looking forward to significant improvements in press performance and operational cost savings once all towers are fully upgraded.
