Following its takeover of Black Press and Honolulu’s Star-Advertiser, Carpenter Media has moved to acquire the Daily Iberian.

Under a preliminary agreement with New Iberia Newsmedia, Carpenter will the acquire the newspaper, established in 1893, from Sierra Vista, Arizona, headquartered Wick Communications.

Media merger and acquisition firm Dirks, Van Essen & April – which represents Wick in the transaction – says “work to complete the transaction” is already underway.

CMG owns nearby newspapers in Louisiana including the (Lake Charles) American Press, (Bogalusa) Daily News, and L’Observateur (LaPlace), as well as newspapers and media companies in Alaska, Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Most recently, it acquired Black Press’s more than 150 newspapers and media operations in western Canada, Washington state and Hawaii, including the Star-Advertiser.

CMG chairman Todd Carpenter says he has known the Wick family for many years, and is pleased to follow them “in responsibility for this important institution.
