Virtual WNC promises Congress flavor with thoughts for the future

WAN-Ifra has published a list of speakers for its World News Media Congress, a virtual event which replaces the face-to-face event which was to have been held in Taipei.

Dates are from November 29 to December 2 (starting at 10am in Germany, 5pm in Singapore, and 5am the previous day in New York), with attendance offered as a no-charge benefit to paying members. Non-members can register for 690 Euros, which includes a year’s individual membership.

Speakers range from Sinead Boucher – modestly described as chief executive of New Zealand’s Stuff but since last year also its owner – to “journalist, futurist and product strategist” Sam Guzik, who is director of news product at WNYC and an affiliate of the USA’s Future Today Institute.

The list suggests the WNC has lost none of its variety and flavor, despite the virtual format, with some “old favourites” and a number of fresh newcomers to the conference circuit.

The event combines the World Media Leaders Summit, World Editors Summit, and Women in News Summit, and will include the announcement of this year’s Golden Pen of Freedom award, and top-level Digital Media Awards.
