New Compact pressroom delivers room to move

The world’s first Goss Magnum Compact looks to be enjoying an opportunity to breathe out in pictures from its reinstallation in New Jersey.

The single-width press design was closely followed by GXpress when it was launched via an open event we attended in Shanghai. But in its first installation, the press was shoe-horned into the former reel room of the Staten Island Advance, with its folder on a floor above.

ImPressions Worldwide is handling the move to Advance’s Newark Star-Ledger where update pictures show the six-tower press dwarfed in a much larger pressroom. ImPressions Tom Loesch says his team has moved attention to constructing dance floors, mounting and levelling rollers and setting the web detectors on the towers.

“They have also fabricated and will start installing new decking to accommodate modifications to the press layout that is different from how the press was originally installed at the Staten Island Advance,” he says.

Founded in 1832, the Star-Ledger is claimed to be New Jersey’s largest newspaper, its circulation quoted by Wikipedia at 400,000.
