Hindi-language giant Dainik Jagran has upgraded image enhancement to take advantage of new software developments.

Publisher Jagran Prakashan - which is one of India's largest - has worked with News Hub Media and partner Technova Imaging Systems in an upgrade to Claro Version 12, expanding it to additional regional locations and making use of automation and integration capabilities to support its high-volume image processing requirements.

Each incoming image is examined, identifying and analysing sharpness, brightness, contrast and colour balance, with Claro applying proper toning and image enhancement. Features include concurrent image processing and support for Google's Vision AI engine - for better image understanding and automated metadata creation - and Remove.bg's background removal technology.

Dainik Jagran vice president Sandeep Gupta says the upgrade has automated image processing and optimised workflow to meet production deadlines during peak production hours. "We have greatly improved our image quality, which has resulted in Dainik Jagran having a more refined print newspaper."

News Hub Media founder and president Richard Laframboise says the partners are bringing the best in technology and custom solutions to India at a time of industry transformation. "We're pleased to work with Technova to provide Dainik Jagran with the Claro V12 release and expanded processing capability," he says.

With 37 editions, covering 11 Indian states, Dainik Jagran has been declared the world's largest-read daily and most credible source of news. It lists 37 printing facilities.
