Press peripherals maker Baldwin says it has landed a US$1.2 million order for high speed spray dampening equipment from Chunichi Shimbun. The new systems will replace existing dampening equipment at the Kinjo factory, one of eight printing plants owned by Chunichi Shimbun. Installation is planned for July and December next year. Chunichi Shimbun, headquartered in Nagoya, Japan, is a major publisher and printer of newspapers in Japan, producing seven titles with a combined daily circulation of 4.28 million copies. President of Baldwin Japan Dr. Ichiei Imafuku says newspapers are increasingly recognising the benefits of effective spray dampening technology: "The improvements in print quality and productivity, combined with reductions in paper waste and press down time, often result in a very short return of investment."
