Unattended production is Kodak focus

A new Kodak thermal CTP system for newspapers embraces technologies from its Trendsetter platesetters in a new high-productivity system launched at Nexpo in April. The Generation News has multiple plate cassettes taking up to 1600 plates in a system designed to run continuously at 300 plates an hour without operator intervention. Integrated plate size selection, slip sheet removal, transport to the imaging engine, centreing and registration are automated to eliminate errors. Kodak sees the new platesetter as part of an integrated solution, using its ThermalNews Gold digital plates and workflow systems including NewsManager. Running Staccato screening at 1270 dpi, it delivers dots down to 25 microns in size. gx
