It's been a while coming, but QI Press Controls has finally taken an order from near neighbour Koninklijke Drukkerij Em. De Jong.

One of eight presses at the Baarle-Nassau print site, 31 kilometres down the road from QI's head office, now has the vendor's fully automated press control system, while a KBA Compacta C56/SG is to have colour register and fan-out control based on the mRC-3D system.

The Compacta 217 gets an mRC-3D system for colour, cut-off and sidelay register control and IDS-3D system for closed-loop colour control, an expansion of original plans to replace only cut-off controls. Six mRC-3D and two IDS-3D cameras will provide the company with greater reliability in terms of quality and bring substantial savings in waste.

QI's Erwin van Rossem says Drukkerij Em. De Jong is a major heatset player on the European market, and considered a key reference. "That's extremely useful when you consider how close they are to our head office," he says.
