Installation of QI Press Controls IDS-3D system for register at the Spokesman-Review will prepare the Spokane, Washington, newspaper for closed-loop colour control in the future.

The US newspaper will install the system on two towers of its TKS press as part of a long term investment.

Pressroom manager Steve Heidal said the publisher investigated several systems - and considered replacing the press itself - before placing the order. Closed-loop colour control is "definitely part of our plans", he says.

"In the first instance we will have the register control installed, then the colour control, and the goal next year is to expand it to two other webs."
