Harland Simon is to replace on-unit controls on a KBA press at the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California.
Obsolete hardware including the interface, control modules, DC IO and drag roller controls and ArcNet communications will be replaced at the Gannett Publishing Services site using off-the-shelf Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and ethernet communications.
The project is scheduled to begin next month with the press remaining in production throughout the process. This new contract follows the successful project at this facility back in 2014, which saw the upgrade of the frontend press controls.
Additional diagnostic software will be available at the Harland Simon supplied maintenance PC and P6000 control consoles, installed in 2014, streamlining fault-finding procedures and enabling remote diagnostic and support via a VPN line.
