Closed-loop colour density, register and cut-off controls are just the start of "a long-term partnership" for Germany-based Oppermann Druck und Verlags.
A new four-tower KBA Commander CL being installed in Rodenberg, will have QI Press Controls' mRC-3D and IDS-3D systems for colour register, fan-out, cut-off, side-lay and colour control when it starts up mid 2016.
Production manager Niels Rohrsen says the new press is "an incredibly advanced piece of machinery", calling for the best possible equipment to ensure optimum use. "Part of this is automatic colour and register controls," he says.
The company is hoping for savings and quality improvements. One of two mRC-3D systems will automate control of colour register and fan-out, while the other will automate cut-off and sidelay including turning bar web positioning. The IDS-3D takes care of colour control and fount solution.
With the assumed lifespan of the press around 15-20 years, Rohrsen says dependable partners will be needed to support the business and its machines: "In QIPC we think we have found such a partner," he says.
