US publishing giant McClatchy Company is linking 13 print locations via a new hub and browser-based workflow.
Servers in Fort Worth, Texas, are to interface the multisite workflow linking hubs and print sites, which delivers a range of functions including tracking and approvals, RIP processing, annotation and driving proofers.
The company is going for a mix of solutions across its 13 sites. Taking data from the Proimage-equipped hub, eight will use standard site workflow with TIFFs sent to platesetter spoolers, while five will have a local Newsway system with a module for faster data transfer and real time status updates. Plates will be RIPped in Fort Worth, with TIFFs sent to these systems, where they will be replicated to meet press and printing needs.
