If neither PacPrint09 or Ifra’s Publish Asia event in late May appeal … how about Paris in springtime? Ifra will be updating on the latest trends in multiplatform information design at its second International IFRA Conference on Design for newspapers and magazines (May 28). Working with the Society for News Design, Ifra promises an unique occasion to analyse relevant trends. “In an increasingly competitive environment, it becomes essential to make content available at all times and in all places via print, the web or the mobile,” says an organiser. “Consequently, the question arises about how to stand out from the competition by offering your readers, Internet or mobile users a graphic design that is both unique to your brand and inviting.” Conference topics include: – Storytelling in a multiplatform media world, – Illustrations transition – from 2D to 4D, – Small country, great design – the change of the newspaper design in Luxembourg, – New frontiers in online infographics, – Lessons from the world’s best designed newspapers. The cast of leading newspaper designers assembled for the event includes: – Mario Garcia, CEO Garciamedia, USA; – Hans Peter Janisch, International Director of SND, Germany; – Matt Mansfield, President of the SND, USA; – Geoff McGhee, Multimedia Editor for LeMonde.fr, France; – Frédérik Ruys, CEO Vizualism, The Netherlands. The conference will take place at the French newspaper ‘Le Monde’ (auditorium) in Paris 13e.
