A spray dampening retrofit at the Irish Independent in Dublin has increased efficiency, environmental protection and productivity, the company says.
Some 64 technotrans deltaspray units were installed last year together with a cross-flow filtration system.
Technical manager electronics Bernhard Paustenbach says the new systems have been running "absolutely reliably" for about nine months: "All of our requirements were fulfilled."
The plant prints three different newspaper editions by day with a further four during the night.
Paustenbach says the precise solution application has greatly improved the quality of the print result, while self-cleaning nozzles extend service life and low wear further enhances productivity.
A delta.f cross-flow filtration system uses a ceramic membrane to ensure high quality filtration and separate oily contaminants, maintaining solution quality and enhancing process stability. As a result, dampening solution waste, disposal costs and the need for new additives and hardened osmosis water are significantly reduced.
