Controls on a Goss Uniliner at Butler Eagle Printing will be upgraded in a collaborative project.

Harland Simon will supply a controls upgrade at the Pennsylvanie plant, working in collaboration with Goss.

The two suppliers have a long history of working together in Europe, as well as in the Americas including at the New York Post, El Mercurio in Chile and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

At Butler Eagle, they will replace an obsolete MPU with a PC-based system which interfaces to the existing HDLC network - thus controlling the on-unit ink, damp and registration cards - and provide touch screen press controls to be mounted on each Bargraph desk (pictured).

Harland Simon Americas managing director John Staiano says control screens and system architecture have been designed so that the system can be expanded later and incorporate the replacement of the Z808 and 859 cards.
