As print orders drop, UPM finds another use for trees

Forget the classic Morgan, with its ash-framed panels: UPM’s Biofore concept car is made from and runs on wood.

Designed and built by students from Helsinki’s Metropolia university, the vehicle showcases the use of UPM biomaterials, with plastic replaced by thermoformable wood – including the floor, console and door panels – and biocomposite (front mask, skirts, dashboard, door and interior panels). It runs on wood-based renewable diesel produced by the Scandinavian papermaker.
