NYT’s Namini, TMG’s Challinor take top roles at INMA

Yasmin Namini of the New York Times and Mark Challinor of UK’s Telegraph Media Group have been elected president and vice president of US-headquartered INMA.

New officers and directors were elected at the annual business meeting during the 83rd-Annual INMA World Congress in New York, with two-year terms taking effect on June 1.

Namini is senior vice president/chief consumer officer of the New York Times, which she joined in 1984. As chief consumer officer, she leads the company’s growing digital and print subscription business and oversees marketing of the Times brand across print, web and mobile platforms. She has served on the INMA board of directors since 2002.

Mark Challinor is director of mobile platforms for TMG. His newspaper career began at the Liverpool Echo, and led him to various marketing and promotion roles with Trinity Mirror and Associated Newspapers. He was later managing director of mobile consultancies Buzz Mobile Marketing and g8wave before joining TMG.

Times of India chief Ravi Dhariwal stepped down as INMA president and serves as immediate past president for the next two years. Elected to new terms on the INMA board are Espen Egil Hansen (executive editor of Verdens Gang, Norway), Michelle Krans (senior vice president/strategy and development of Gannett, US) and Paulo Mira (chief executive of PHD Mobi, USA).
