Repro India has signed orders for four new Goss presses as part of an expansion project to its printing facility in Sachin, Gujarat. Two M­500 and two Community SSC presses will boost magazine printing capacity for the commercial print markets and book sales in the educational and children’s book markets. The Community presses will each have one four-high tower and an SSC folder with two reelstands. One will have a cutoff of 546 mm and the other 578 mm. The two M-500 presses, running at speeds up to 40,000 cph, will be identically configured with four units and 578 mm cutoffs. “We are achieving rapid growth due to our ambitious goals,” says Sunil Unni, chief executive officer at Repro India, commenting on recent financial results. Last year revenue grew 19 per cent whilst profits rose by 69 per cent. “This expansion project will give the company the capability to supply 100 million books to the children’s and educational book markets worldwide, but we intend to boost this figure to 200 million in the short-term.” The four Goss presses are scheduled for shipment within the year to the 4460 m2 facility in Sachin in the special economic zone, and will expand to 5388 m2 with the investment project. Repro India’s clients include Microsoft, McGraw Hill, IBM Learning Services, Encyclopedia Britannica, Oxford University Press, Orient Longman, Egmont Imagination and Jeevandeep Publications. Clients in the children’s book market include publishers such as Igloo, Arcturus, Beaver Books and Dalmatian.
