Peter Scott has become the first non-Japanese chief of Dainippon Screen in Australia, following the of Akira Hayakawa to Japan after six years in the position.
Scott steps up from national sales manager following a 12-year career with the company in Australia and the USA. He had previously worked with prepress RIP and imagesetter pioneer Hyphen and spent time with then Heidelberg distributor Seligson & Clare.
Scott says it is an “enormous honour” to be entrusted with the role: “I am grateful for the experience handed down from Akira Hayakawa.
“The team we have is very stable, so we know each other well and I look forward to, and am confident in, continued success for Screen,” he says.
Hayakawa remains a director of the ANZ subsidiary, with his new role in Kyoto including responsibility for Europe.
A farewell luncheon for Hayakawa was attended by local staff.
One of the world’s largest graphic arts manufacturers and suppliers, Dainippon Screen makes prepress and CTP systems for the newspaper sector, as well as inkjet web presses for newspaper printing. The Australian subsidiary was established in 1986.
