Supercalendared paper is flowing as normal again from Norske Skog’s Saugbrugs mill in Halden, Noreway, following an extensive fire in February.

Production had been shut down after a fire on February 2 damaged to part of the thermo-mechanical pulp plant which supplies the paper machines.

One paper machine producing about 10,000 tonnes a month was restarted and after a tentative restart a fortnight ago, PM6 is now also in full production, and SC magazine paper has already been delivered to customers from it.

Norske Skog says PM5 will also restart during next week.

Says chief executive Sven Ombudstvedt, “We are very pleased to see that the first deliveries of paper to pressrooms confirm that production is at the same quality level as before the fire.”

Norske Skog Saugbrugs has an annual production of 545,000 tonnes of SC magazine paper with 550 employees.
