Chairman of Australian competition watchdog the ACCC Rod Sims will speak at INMA’s final World Congress of Newsmedia session today.

The event, from 10am-12.30pm New York time, is moderated by Robert Whitehead, a director of Shepparton News publisher McPherson Media.

Attention turns to ad tech when Sims – who is chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission – is billed as "the Australian Big Tech regulator at the heart of the global race to create commercial agreements with media companies”.

Whitehead and and Belgian attorney Damien Geradin will discuss the road ahead internationally, and where ad tech might fit.

Other speakers in this session are Rasmus Kleis Nielsen, director of Oxford University’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, Michal Pietniczka, partnerships director of Poland’s Onet.pl, and INMA executive director Earl Wilkinson.

The event – which has been attended by more that 340 delegates – concludes next Thursday (June 3) with the Global Awards announcements, to be streamed via YouTube and Facebook. The event runs from 10-11.30am, New York time.
