When a press project is sweet as a ’60s song

Johnny Tillotson would be proud: Assembly of a Goss SSC press at the Berkshire Eagle is so smooth, “it’s like poetry in motion,” Tom Loesch says.

The ImPressionsWorldwide president is rapt with progress on the project, which follows removal of a 30-year-old Urbanite from the pad where the new press is now being installed.

The short cut-off 2012 Goss was trucked to the Eagle print centre on Pittsfield, Massachusetts from Duluth, Minnesota in six loads and Loesch reports assembly work is ahead of schedule.

The press includes four towers, two folders, four triple-wide assemblies, two tandem splicers, and a Level-2 control system with Goss remote inking and two desks.

“The Berkshire Eagle team has been working side by side with us propelling this job at a rapid pace,” he says. “This is another great customer that has placed their trust and confidence in us to oversee this capital investment, and we appreciate the opportunity to work with them in a cooperative fashion towards common goals.”
