Funding puts Zylinder on a roll to Penrith

The space is ready and the money raised: Penrith Museum of Printing’s latest acquisition is on the way after it’s A$5000 crowdfunding target was met ahead of deadline.

The 1939 Heidelberg Zylinder which used to print letterpress newspaper the Don Dorrigo Gazette has a history of its own as one of the last prodiced before the outbreak of World War II.

Space has been cleared at the museum ahead of the arrival, with volunteers busy rearranging exhibits to make room for it.

Companies and individuals that contributed to the crowdfunding include Bright Print Group, JDA Print Recruitment, Hopscotch Press, The Milldean Press, Maxam Printing and former Franklin Web proprietor Phil Taylor.

After arrival, the press will be stripped, with new rollers and parts added, with funds coming from any surplus from the $5,000 raised.
