Video streamers hungry for more content services

Despite the large number of new services already launched, 70 per cent of viewers are still open to trying a new streaming service.

That's one of the findings of a new country-by-country survey by video platform Brightcove, which confirms that movies have been a favourite during the pandemic lockdown. Movies were the top choice in every country surveyed except India, where news led.

OTT consumers cited several different reasons to consider trying a new service, chief among them to get access to new content, while the offer of a free trial was even more attractive. If you have the right content and a free trial, be prepared for growth.

With Australia among the top-five countries by consumption, the popularity of living room and bedroom viewing apparently holds true all over the world.

Says the report, "If you have content to share, now is the time - people are watching more video than ever, and they're still hungry for more."
