Software to allow TV talk show hosts to display newspaper pages as they discuss the stories is being previewed at an exhibition in Las Vegas.

Developer LiveTouch Broadcast Solutions is working with NewpaperDirect to power its interactive on-air newspaper solutio, giving them access to more than 1800 newspapers from 94 countries.

The LiveTouch application provides the technology for presenters to review and comment on headlines and news stories and photography, giving viewers insight into the latest and best journalism from around world, as it is published and often before newspapers hit newsstands.

The system is being previewed to broadcasters at this year's NAB Show in Las Vegas, which opens tomorrow. NewspaperDirect worked closely with LiveTouch to integrate its PressDisplay.com into the on-air system, resulting in a high-fidelity experience which is navigated using the LiveTouch multi-touch display. Digital newspapers are presented in their original newsstand format and rendered in high resolution, enabling presenters to scroll through a selection of local newspapers or feature top newspapers from around the world.

Multi-touch gestures – similar to those on some tablets – let the presenter zoom in and highlight any news story, quickly skim through an entire edition, or build their own commentary around high-resolution, colour photos from leading photojournalists.
