German blanket maker ContiTech is moving further into heatset and hybrid markets with new heatset and UV printing blankets.

It has appointed Rodolfo Stephanus (right) to a new sales manager position as part of a push into heatset markets, and will launch its new Neon-TR and Neon blue TR blankets at a heatset symposium next month.

Head of printing blanket research and development Jan Jungmann will present the blanket – designed for high-speed heatset printing – at the event at its Northeim plant on May 13.

A new UV Blue blanket for UV web printing is also being launched in May, at IST’s UV Days in Germany. It has high resistance to swelling and a special EPDM rubber compound for the cover, resulting in a very sharp screen dot and good solid-surface printing performance.

Programme for the heatset event includes presentations from industry experts including Rob Berndsen (Senefelder Misset), and Kodak’s Stefan Kull on the role of printing plates in the heatset process.

Technical director at Siegwerk Druckfarben Fabian Köhn will discuss printing colour requirements in heatset printing, Achim Siebert of Weros Technology will talk about rollers requirements, and Stefan Wegdell of Nip Control will deal with technology to measure forces in the roller gap and the nip.

The kick-off event will mark the anniversary of Continental’s printing blanket production, and include a visit to an exhibition tracing the 100-year history of the printing blanket.
